Tool and Die and Precision Technology

This course provides training in the use of metal cutting machines, such as the lathe, vertical and horizontal mill, surface grinder, bandsaw, and drillpress. In addition, learn about precision measuring tools, blueprint reading, shop mathematics and welding. Experience the technology of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) as parts are designed using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software and then produced on the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) mill.

As a second-year student, participate in a variety of internships and cooperative work experiences. Over the past 5 years, this program boasts 100% placement in internships and co-ops for qualified second-year students.

Rochester and Monroe County have strong ties to the Tool and Die Industry. There is great demand for manufactured parts in the automotive, optical and surgical industries. The need for skilled trades people to produce those parts and those machines is great. The EMCC Tool and Die and Precision Machining Technology class opens the door to a variety of entry-level positions in these industries.
